A Long-term Solution to the Fiscal Disaster of "Entitlements"

Depending on which data you believe, Congress has forced obligations of anywhere between $50 trillion and $75 trillion.  This is at least $50,000,000,000,000 - 50 million million dollars.  There is no one on earth who can truly fathom how much money that is.  And this will continue to get worse if Congress does not act soon.

For Social Security, we will push back until:

Employers no longer are required to pay social security for their employees.  Why should they have to save for someone else?

  1. Citizens can choose to opt out of the system altogether.  Those who are in the system already can choose to stay in the system.  This will eventually end "Social Security" (a major misnomer) as we know it.
  2. A trust fund is set up to take care of those truly unable to care for themselves.  This is not welfare or social security.  It is compassion.  One percent of the Federal budget would be used for this fund.  People would have to apply for money, and when the money is gone, it is gone.  At current levels, this would give the Federal government about $35 billion to spend.  For example, if there are 1,000,000 people who needed this assistance, each one would get about $35,000 per year.  This is reasonable.

For Medicare, we will push back until it is phased out over the next ten years.  Government should not be involved in health care unless it is for employees or military personnel.

We, the people, will push back until they do.
